The key is determining which settings to tweak in order to gain the most benefit without hampering your ability to use your laptop effectively.<\/p>\n

Windows includes a fantastic hidden tool that can help you decide which HP 6730s Battery<\/a>\u00a0power settings you can safely tweak and which ones to leave as they are. This tool creates what\u2019s known as a \u201cPower Efficiency Report<\/strong>\u201d, and here\u2019s how to use it:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If your laptop computer is running Windows 8\/8.1\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 \u2013 While on the Start Screen, press the Windows<\/strong><\/span>+S<\/strong><\/span> key combination to open a Search box.<\/p>\n

2 \u2013 Type cmd<\/strong><\/span> into the Search box.<\/p>\n

3 \u2013 Find\u00a0Command Prompt<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in the list of search results, then right-click on it and click\u00a0Run as Administrator<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

4 \u2013 Type (or copy and paste) the following at the command prompt:<\/p>\n

powercfg -energy -output \\Energy_Report.html<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After about 60 seconds the report will be ready to view. The steps below explain how to view it\u2026<\/p>\n

5 \u2013 Press the\u00a0Windows<\/strong><\/span>+E<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0key combination to open File\u00a0Explorer.<\/p>\n

6 \u2013 Navigate to the\u00a0root folder<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0of the\u00a0C: drive<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and double-click the\u00a0Energy_Report.html<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0file.<\/p>\n

7 \u2013 Read the\u00a0Analysis\/Errors section<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0(look for the text with the colored background) to see which power settings can be changed in order to make your laptop run more efficiently.<\/p>\n

If your notebook PC is running Windows 7\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 \u2013 Click the Start<\/strong><\/span> orb.<\/p>\n

2 \u2013 Type cmd<\/strong><\/span> into the Search box.<\/p>\n
