This fluorescent lamp consumes a substantial amount of power. Therefore, decreasing LCD brightness helps preserve battery power.<\/p>\n<p>Turn power off to Serial device if it is not in use. The serial port and IR can both be turned off in ThinkPad Features.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management &#8211; <\/strong>To get the most computing time from each battery recharge, you need to conserve battery power without compromising computing power. With the Battery MaxiMiser wizard, you can adjust your power settings to give you the best balance between performance and power saving.<\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b> Using the Battery MaxiMiser Gauge icon with Windows XP or Windows 2000<\/p>\n<p>In Windows XP or Windows 2000, multiple users can log on to a single operating system by using different user IDs. If you use an administrator user ID, you can create your own <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.battaussie.com\/hp\/pavilion-dv6-battery.htm\">HP pavilion dv6 extended laptop battery power<\/a><\/strong> Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>If you log on to the system with the user ID of an administrator who was registered as the default administrator when Windows XP or Windows 2000 was installed, and if you then double-click the Battery MaxiMiser Gauge icon, the following happens:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you have created an Extended Power Scheme for the administrator&#8217;s user ID, that scheme is displayed.<\/li>\n<li>If you have not created an Extended Power Scheme for the administrator&#8217;s user ID, the predefined scheme is displayed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you log on to the system with any other administrator&#8217;s user ID, and double-click the Battery MaxiMiser Gauge icon, the following happens:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you have created an Extended Power Scheme for the user ID, that scheme is displayed.<\/li>\n<li>If you have not created an Extended Power Scheme for the user ID, no scheme is displayed. You can create one for this user ID. Start the Battery MaxiMiser wizard. These modes can be used at anytime to conserve power without exiting applications or saving files prior to use. To return from standby mode, press the Fn key.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"left\" valign=\"top\" width=\"10%\">Hibernation<\/td>\n<td align=\"left\" valign=\"top\" width=\"90%\">Press the keyboard function key combination Fn + F12, click hibernation icon in battery meter, or set hibernation condition at suspend\/hibernation\/resume option in ThinkPad Features. To resume your session, press the power button for no more than 4 seconds.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b> In order for hibernation to work, Hibernation must be enabled. Also, hibernation uses disk space. See your User&#8217;s Guide for details.<\/p>\n<p>By setting the standby or the suspend timer, the system enters standby or suspend automatically when the system is not used for the time set by the timer.<\/p>\n<p>When using Hibernation, you can select from several options for Hibernation from the Suspend\/Hibernation\/Resume icon in ThinkPad Features.
