Turns out they can actually be of use in creating your own Powerwall-like storage unit which can function at the same capacity as the Tesla product at a much more affordable price.<\/p>\n

Simply, Tesla batteries, both those in its cars and its power storage units are made of specialized lithium ion batteries. Laptop batteries are made of the same material and since they store power for laptops for long, they are actually good power storage units. This capability of such batteries can be used in large-scale electricity storage \u2014 the only thing you need is the availability of a large number of such batteries and an electricity source, most probably a solar panel.<\/p>\n

One YouTuber Joe Williams actually created a Powerwall like electricity storage unit from laptop batteries.<\/p>\n
