Specs and features rumor of HTC Windows RT tablets R7 and R12 with Windows Blue

HTC is evidently working with its first Windows RT tablets. The new HTC Windows tablets are expected for release after Microsoft’s launch of its Windows 8 Blue update, which is rumored for the end of the year. According a PhoneArena tipster, the HTC devices will be R7 and R12, two high-end slates respectively with 7-in and 12-in screens. The ‘R’ in the titles reportedly stands for Windows RT, rumors say.

The midsize Windows RT slate from HTC is going to be one of the smaller Windows tablets ever. No firm has so far released a midsize Windows tablet, which is ruled by Android tablets and Apple iPad Mini. Meanwhile, another leading Microsoft partner from Taiwan, Acer is also working on such a small screen Windows tab. Anyway, the Windows Blue-based R7 is likely to tout a 7-inch FullHD screen and nice specs under the cover.

It will make the device outperform most of the key 7-inch Android tablets. The rest of the specs of the projected HTC tab contain a 16GB internal memory, extended life battery plus microSD slot for further expansion.

Amazingly, the R7 is to sport a heavy 13MP rear camera with autofocus. It is indeed something doubtful because it is a time most of tech makers are staying away from adding better rear cameras on tablets. It is a move based on the fact that most people don’t use tablets to capture video or pics. When it comes to connectivity options, the Window RT Blue tablet is to offer HDMI, DLNA or NFC. And, it will further have LTE/HSPA+ cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and a lot more.

HTC R12, at the same time, is going to be a huge tablet. With such a big screen, it will more be an Ultrabook, rather than a tablet. It is reported that the R12 will feature the same specs of R7, but it will have an alleged 12-inch 2048 x 1536 pixels screen panel, and more connectivity options. No more details are known about the larger HTC tablet, which might be a strong rival to Microsoft’s Surface RT, a 10.6-inch Windows RT machine.

No exact details are available about the price and release date of the tablets. But sources have put October 13 as the tentative release date. HTC hasn’t yet made a single word about these two devices. Anyway, it is the same timeframe Microsoft’s new Blue update is rumored to come to light. Along with the HTC tablets, we can certainly expect more tablets from other Microsoft partners like Acer. Also, there will be some devices from Microsoft itself. There is also a rumor that the Redmond software giant is working on a midsize Surface tablet.

As per sources, Microsoft is about to publicly announce the next Windows Blue update this summer. According to The Verge, “the software giant is targeting the release of a public preview this summer, with incremental updates each year on the way,” says TechRadar. It is said that Windows Blue update is meant to implement some improved search functionality and a lot of other capabilities.

Windows 8 Blue update will let Microsoft gain more ground in the growing tablet market, especially the small screen market. Along with Microsoft, Acer and HTC are now also working on small screen tablets. They will enhance the popularity of the Windows tablets over the Androids and iPad Mini. Recently, too many Android midsize tablets under various price ranges have made their way to market. Microsoft is now going to get some powerful alternatives to them.
